Syracuse, NY - December 2008 - The employees at Green & Seifter CPAs and Green & Seifter Attorneys teamed up to collect and deliver new and gently used clothing to Vera House. The clothing consisted of professional suits and dresses to be used by Vera House clientele for job interviews. Rose Durkin of Green & Seifter Attorneys and Connie Pikarsky of Green & Seifter CPAs are joined by Dotti Barraco Hetnar, Program Administrator and Hawi Hall, Advocate. “We hope that this helps to empower women in a time of crisis,” said Connie Pikarsky, organizer of the drive.
Vera House was founded in 1977 by a group of concerned individuals led by Sister Mary Vera, CSJ who recognized the need for emergency sheltering services for women in crisis. This original mission blossomed into a wide range of domestic violence services including outreach and advocacy, domestic violence education programming, children’s counseling, the Syracuse Area Domestic and Sexual Violence coalition and a domestic violence education program for male perpetrators of violence.
